Assistive Listening Devices

Today’s hearing technology is powerful and can benefit those with hearing loss significantly. But there are some occasions where you might have special requirements that are not addressed by your hearing aids. This is where assistive listening devices can come in handy. We offer many types of assistive listening devices such as amplified telephones, portable amplified phone ringers, light signalers to let you know when the phone is ringing, amplified doorbells, vibrating alarm clocks and more. We are strong supporters of the TEPP and TAPP program and will do all that we can to ensure that all residents of WI with hearing loss receive the free amplified telephone they are entitled to. We also support the CapTel captioning program that is completely federally funded. Give us a call if you would like assistance filling out the application for your voucher or CapTel phone.

Comprehensive Hearing Assessment

A comprehensive hearing assessment is designed to determine if a hearing loss is present, including the type of loss and severity. For accuracy, testing is completed in a sound treated booth with calibrated test equipment. The audiologist will put headphones or inserts in your ears and present different tones to you at different volume settings. You will be asked to raise your hand or push a button each time you hear a tone, even if it is very soft. This test will be repeated with a bone vibrator that sits behind your ear sort of like a headband, and stimulates your hearing nerve directly. Your responses are then plotted on a form called an “audiogram.” Speech testing will also be performed to determine if you have distortion in your ears or if you are hearing speech clearly when volume is set at a comfortable level. Following the test, the audiologist will go over your findings and any recommendations he or she might have.

Hearing Aid Repairs

Hearing aids are built to help your hearing for several years. However, years of regular use can mean that they may sometimes develop problems. Even if you clean them everyday, your ear canals inevitably attract dirt, humidity, and earwax – all of which can damage your hearing aid’s sensitive components. We can help maintain and service your hearing aids whenever they need it. We have accounts with several hearing aid manufacturers, as well as an all-make repair company. This enables us to service almost any hearing aid in need of repair.

Hearing Aids

There are several steps that are part of a hearing aid consultation. If you suspect that you might need a hearing aid, you will first need to have a hearing evaluation. At the time of the hearing evaluation, a case history will be taken to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day life as well as the lives of your family. If your hearing test reveals a permanent hearing loss, hearing aids may be recommended. Your hearing professional at Advanced Hearing Solutions will explain what sounds you have difficulty hearing, and what hearing aids can do to help. At this appointment you will get to see and experience different styles of hearing aids. Depending on the make and model, you may be able to do an in office demonstration of the hearing aids. Our audiologist will make recommendations for the best style of hearing aid, features and level of sophistication based on your degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and financial circumstances. Some hobbies and occupations may benefit from different hearing aid styles or features. Today’s hearing technology can help make a difference – allowing people to re-engage with friends and family and be more involved again. We offer a wide selection of hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers, such as Phonak, Starkey, Oticon, Signia, ReSound, Unitron, Widex, etc. We will work with you to find the best solution for your hearing healthcare needs.

Real Ear Measurement (REM)

Real Ear Measurement (REM), sometimes called probe microphone measurements, is the gold standard used to determine whether or not a hearing aid user is receiving the precise level of amplification needed at every frequency in order to achieve the best hearing improvement possible.

Swim Molds, Noise Protectors, And Ear Molds For Phone Headsets

Our ears are extremely delicate and complicated structures that enable us to hear. When we damage the delicate hair cells within them through noise, they can’t be corrected. That is why we should look after our ears and guard them against persistently loud noise. We supply custom hearing protection that fits comfortably and protects you against loud noise, whatever you might be doing. We take a cast of your ears to ensure a perfect fit. The molds are made of a soft silicone to enable users to wear them for a longer period than standard earplugs. We also offer custom-made swim molds in a variety of colors. We also offer custom-made and generic hearing protectors and musician’s plugs that provide protection while maintaining the fidelity of the music.
